WABC Weekly Music Surveys
WABC kept weekly surveys of the best selling records in New York City throughout its years as a Top 40 Music station. These surveys were based on the record sales of local record stores in New York City. The lists are an accurate reflection of what songs were played each week on WABC. This was the "heyday" of Top 40 music and these surveys are fascinating.
Ken Williamson, along with Tom Natoli, Mike Riccio and Don Tandler have done an extraordinary job collecting and restoring these surveys. This is an enormous task as there are literally hundreds of surveys. They have taken great care to restore them as closely as possible. If WABC misspelled something, they have misspelled it for the sake of creating an accurate reproduction of the original.
Ken also provides comments at the end of many of the surveys to help clarify items that may seem to be inaccuracies.
The WABC Musicradio site has every single weekly music survey published by WABC on line. This is a great accomplishment and a tribute to these people who have put in a huge amount of time collecting, verifying and formatting these surveys.
Thanks Ken, Tom, Mike and Don!
